Yes, we do! Most Americans eat far too much sodium - an average of 3400mg of sodium per day. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends no more than 2300mg per day, and an ideal limit of no more than 1500mg per day for most adults.
Each of our three calorie levels offer sodium levels that more than meet the AHA recommendations as follows:
1200 Calorie Traditional Plan: 1446mg
1500 Calorie Vegetarian Plan: 1801mg
2000 Calorie Traditional Plan: 2300mg
According to the American Heart Association, since the average American’s sodium intake is so excessive, even cutting back to no more than 2,400 milligrams a day will significantly improve blood pressure and heart health.
